Calamus Root

Calamus root (Acorus calamus), also known as sweet flag, is a strong controlling herb adding power to any hexing, controlling or dominating spell. The root is also carried in mojo bags or dressed oils. In hoodoo, calamus is used for controlling another person or a situation and is often used in spells of domination. The seeds of the calamus were often strung on a necklace and worn to promote healing. It is said that growing the plant brings good luck to gardeners. You can also use the seeds to be strung as healing beads, or the powdered root can be used in healing incenses and sachets. It is a prominent ingredient in the incense Ketoret that is mentioned in the Old Testament and was burned twice daily in their Temples.
